Appel à candidatures pour la subvention FCPPL – CSC

The call for the FCPPL – CSC PhD grants is now open.

The FCPPL-CSC agreement allows either 3-year grants for full PhD in France, or 6- to 24-month grants for students who are already registered as PhD students in China.
Grants are allocated by the CSC and are around 1000 euros/month, with return flight tickets included.

The selection procedure follows two steps :

  • First the FCPPL Steering Committee will preselect students who apply to a French lab member of FCPPL.

Candidates can download the application form from the FCPPL web site.
The application will have to be filled and uploaded on the FCPPL web site before February 24th, 2010.
  • Then CSC will evaluate the listed candidates according to CSC requirements and priorities, and will inform the successful candidates in May or June 2010.

Details on this second step can be seen of the CSC web page (in Chinese).

**** Important note for candidates coming from Universities : ****

Be aware that your University is awarded a fixed and limited number of grants by CSC. Your university will therefore establish its own list of candidates which will be transfered to CSC. This is usually done in December or January.

Your name has to be on this list in order to get a grant !

Unfortunatly the procedure to establish this list differs from one University to the other, so FCPPL cannot do much to help you on this.

We therefore strongly suggest that you contact your own university administration in order to get valid information.

This procedure do not apply to candidates from CAS institutes (including USTC).

Note that being preselected by the FCPPL does not necessarily mean that the CSC will allocate the grant !

Last year however, the 4 FCPPL students who sent valid applications to CSC got a grant, making CSC the largest source of grants for FCPPL PhDs in 2009. So even if the application procedure may sound complicated, the chances of success are sizeable.
